The Constellation Records website has posted an announcement that Vic Chesnutt died this afternoon in Athens, Georgia. “In the few short years that we knew him personally, Vic transformed our sense of what true character, grace and determination are all about. Our grief is inexpressible and Vic’s absence unfathomable,” the announcement said.

For the past ten years My Education has combined screaming feedback-laden guitars, swirling melodic viola and a thundering rhythm section with tinges of bells, strings and horns. The band spent most of 2009 working on the follow-up to their previous LP, Bad Vibrations. Tucked away into the studio, they have captured a calamitous but oddly, compelling tension that builds up to an ecstasy inducing release in the latest opus, Sunrise, to be released in late April 2010 on Strange Attractors Audio House (USA/Canada).
